Melissa Gatto replaces injured Jessica-Rose Clark and makes her debut for the company at UFC 237

Melissa Gatto will be the replacement for Jessica Rose Clark on the card UFC 237. The information was confirmed after the Australian was injured during her training for the event in Rio de Janeiro. Gatto will make her debut for the company at bantamweight (up to 65,8kg) against fellow Brazilian Talita Bernardo on May 11th.

Jessica confirmed, last night, on a social network, that, due to an injury to the ligaments in her right foot, she was officially out of UFC Rio 10, which takes place next month. The announcement paved the way for Melissa to make her debut with the organization.

“I'm out of UFC 237 officially. An accident during a sparring session injured my ligaments in my left foot”, published the Australian, who also made mention of the Brazilian Talita Bernardo, against whom she would fight at the event. “I hope we can have that fight later this year.”

Melissa Gatto debuts in the UFC with a record of eight fights, six wins and two draws. Her last fight took place in September last year, when she submitted Karolline Rosa in an event promoted by Chris Cyborg.

Talita Bernardo, in turn, has nine fights, six wins and three losses. The fighter is coming off a victory over Canadian Sarah Moraes.

The two will face each other on the preliminary card of the UFC 237, which takes place on May 11th, in Rio de Janeiro.
