Colby Covington again provokes Kamaru Usman: 'He doesn't know how to fight standing up'

Colby covington, once again caused controversy by provoking the welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg.) Kamaru Usman. In an interview with 'BJPENN Radio', Covington stated that the challenge against Usman would be easier than a possible fight against the former champion of the category, Tyron woodley.

On the program, Colby criticizes Woodley's physical condition, stating that the fighter gets tired very easily. On the other hand, he claims that the Nigerian's standing game is not efficient enough.

“You know it’s an easier fight.” Woodley is an easy fight. He doesn't have cardio, but Usman doesn't know how to fight standing up. He doesn’t know how to punch,” said the American, who made a point of stating that he knows Kamaru’s style well. “You know I watched some of his fights and saw a lot of mistakes. Too many holes in your game.”

Both Usman and Colby have been exchanging barbs in the press and, at the beginning of the month, they almost came to blows when they met at an airport, right after UFC 235, in which the Nigerian won the welterweight title over Tyron.

A fight between the two is being scheduled, however, the date has not yet been confirmed by the organization.

In his career in the UFC, Covinton, 31 years old, has a history of 10 fights, with nine victories. Colby's last fight was in June 2018, when he overcame the Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos, winning the interim belt in the category. The position of interim champion was subsequently withdrawn by the UFC, when he refused to face the then-lineal champion. Tyron woodley in September last year.

Usman, 30, also has 10 fights, but has never been defeated in the organization. His last fight was in March this year, when he won the title defeating Tyron woodley at UFC 235
