Justin Gaethje on fighting Edson Barboza at UFC Philadelphia: 'He's scary'

Fighter shows respect to Brazilian, but maintains focus and confidence in victory

Justin gaethje faces the Brazilian Edson Barboza in the main fight of UFC Philadelphia, an event that takes place next Saturday (30), in the USA. The North American, known for his aggressive style and enormous resistance, does not hide his anxiety and expectation for the fight.

In an interview with 'Combate', Gaethje showed that he knows the Brazilian's fighting style and reiterated his desire to face him.

“He's scary. I really like facing my fears. I live for that”, said the fighter “From the beginning, I still think he is one of the scariest guys in the UFC at lightweight. I certainly think he's one of the best in the world per round. I’m excited to test my skills against someone like Edson,” said Justin.

Despite respect for the Brazilian, the North American sees flaws in Edson's game. For him, the fighter gets tired quickly, which would be a problem in a five-round fight.

“I try to get in and out as quickly as possible every time, but the times he lost, it was against people who put pressure on him. And no one puts pressure on others like I do”, said the fighter, who also provoked using a famous phrase from the movie 'Rocky IV'. “If you want to beat me, you better be willing to die, and I don’t think he necessarily has that attribute,” concluded Gaethje.

Justin gaethje He is 30 years old and is a former WSF lightweight champion. He debuted in the UFC in July 2017. In his professional record, 'Highlight' has 21 fights and 19 wins. Barboza, in turn, is 33 years old and has a record of 28 fights and 25 wins.
