Roy Jones accepts Belfort's challenge and says: 'I need six weeks to beat you up'

Without fighting since February 2018 and at the age of 50, the multi-time boxing champion agreed to face the Brazilian at ONE FC

Anderson Silva He never hid his dream of facing boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. But the person who can face the multiple champion of the noble art is another national MMA star: Vitor belfort. After being announced as a new signing for the Asian event ONE FC, last week, the Phenomenon challenged Jones Jr to a mixed rules duel (between boxing and MMA) and the North American didn't take long to accept.

Despite having declared that he would not compete again, the 50-year-old former boxer published a video on his Instagram account accepting the Brazilian's challenge. “Vitor belfort, you already know, brother. Just call me, tell me what it will be, just tell me where and when, and in what weight! I’m cool,” said Jones Jr.

In an interview with the gossip website 'TMZ', Roy Jones confirmed his desire to come out of retirement to face the Brazilian.

“I would like eight weeks to prepare, because I need two extra weeks just to make sure I can be funny. But at six weeks, I can give him a beating! Eight weeks is for the extra, but in six weeks I fight, eight weeks I give the whole show, you hear? Tell me what you want, but if you just want to fight, it’s easy to produce in six weeks”, he teased.

Roy Jones Jr.'s career

Roy Jones Jr, 50 years old, has a boxing record of 65 wins and just nine losses. He was a silver medalist at the Seoul Olympics (1988) and went on to win eight belts in the noble art in the middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and even heavyweight divisions.
