Max Holloway will you face it Dustin poirier for the interim lightweight belt. The fight will take place in the main fight of the UFC 236, on April 13th in Atlanta (USA). The featherweight champion will move up to the 70kg category and can join the select group of fighters with two simultaneous belts in Ultimate. The information was given first-hand by the website of the North American channel ESPN.

It will not be the first meeting between the fighters. Holloway and Poirier face off in the featherweight division at UFC 143, in February 2012. 'Diamond' submitted 'Blessed' in the first round in his fourth UFC fight.
Featherweight champion, Holloway has won 13 consecutive UFC victories and is experiencing the best phase of his career. 'Blessed' hasn't lost since August 2013 at the ufc boston, when he was defeated by Conor McGregor. The Hawaiian has 23 fights on his record, with 20 wins and three losses.
Dustin poirier he's also having a good time in Ultimate. In the last ten fights, he won eight times. His last defeat came in 2016 when he was knocked out by Michael Johnson. 'Diamond' has 30 fights in his career, with 24 triumphs, five setbacks and one unsuccessful fight.
The UFC planned the confrontation between Holloway and Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight title. 'El Cucuy' refused the offer, as he wants to face the linear champion of the category, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Thus, Poirier, who was feeling overlooked by Ultimate, gained the chance to fight for the division's belt. Before accepting the duel with Max, Dustin even asked to be released by the organization.
