Francis Ngannou knocked out Cain Velazquez in just 26 seconds and closed the Talking Stick Resort Arena, in Arizona (USA). The Cameroonian won his second consecutive victory in the main fight of UFC Phoenix, on Sunday (17). The triumph qualifies The Predator' for a heavyweight title fight. "I feel very happy. I don't know, for some reason I was happy all week. I came here to have fun and to enjoy the fight and now I'm living the dream. I can't wait for what comes next. I think I deserve the title shot. After this victory I deserve to fight for the belt. I just beat his training partner (Cormier), so I think I deserve to be face to face with him”, claimed 'The Predator'.
The Cameroonian challenged for the heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 220, but lost via unanimous decision. He was subsequently defeated by Derrick Lewis by points at UFC 226. When analyzing the setbacks, Ngannou said they were fundamental to his evolution.
“I’m a better fighter these days. The defeat gave me a lot of experience on how to deal with them, I'm a better fighter today. There were things in this environment that I didn't know how they worked. I went through all this, fell and came back. I know exactly what it takes to be a fighter and that’s why I’m here”, concluded Francis.
'The Predator' has been in Ultimate since December 2015, when he knocked him out in the second round. Since his debut, he has won eight in 10 fights in the organization. Currently, the Cameroonian occupies third place in the heavyweight rankings.
