the experience of Demian Maia made the difference in his duel with Lyman Good on the main card of UFC Fortaleza, this Saturday (02). In a 'demonstration of luxury' of jiu-jitsu, the Brazilian submitted the North American with a rear naked choke at 2m38s of the first round. Thus, the veteran ended a sequence of three defeats in Ultimate. His last triumph was in May 2017, when he won Jorge masvidal at UFC 211.

Even with the beautiful performance, Maia is still thinking about 'hanging up the gloves' after finishing the two fights of his contract with Ultimate. “It’s always my strategy to finish. I faced an opponent much stronger than me, but I know that jiu-jitstu is different. I have two more fights on this contract and maybe I'll retire after that. Let’s see what will happen”, explained Demian.
The fight
Demian started the fight by attacking the legs and taking his rival to the ground. The crowd was excited by the veteran's attack and shouted “Uh! gonna die". Maia got on the back of Good who tried to get out of the rear naked choke, but the Brazilian's grip was strong. Thus, the North American gave up.
In a turnaround, Charles do Bronx submits David Teymur in the second round
Charles of the Bronx submitted David Teymur with a hand triangle 55 seconds into the second round in their fight on the main card of UFC Fortaleza. However, the result did not show what the Brazilian had to face inside the cage. After overcoming a finger in the eye at the beginning of the fight, Oliveira turned things around, attempted a knockout and ended the fight with a new submission.
Do Bronx added his third consecutive victory and ended Teymur's unbeaten run in Ultimate. With the triumph, the Brazilian has already asked the organization for a new fight at UFC Miami in April this year.
“When I got hit in the eye I said I couldn't see on the right side. But God is very strong and never abandons me. When I'm here in the Octagon, all I think about is fighting. I'm not the best, I train for this and I'm improving my striking. I don't know who's next. I want to fight in Miami. Give me a fight in April and I’ll be ready”, said Charles.
At the beginning of the fight, Teymur hit Charles in the eye with his fingers. As a result, the referee deducted a point from the Swede. The confrontation resumed, and a blow from David made the Brazilian fall. The Stockholm fighter entered his opponent's guard and Do Bronx complained to the referee. Oliveira managed a knock down, but ended up on the bottom after his rival's reaction. The duel returned to standing and the Guaruja athlete tried to throw a round shot that went nowhere.
Do Bronx attacked the Swede with an elbow from below. The blow caused David to feel it and go to the cage. Realizing his rival's situation, Charles continued hitting. Without achieving the knockout, the Brazilian used his specialty and submitted Teymur with a hand triangle.

The Brazilian attacked his rival from the first second of the fight. Walker used a sequence of spinning kicks and elbows that made Ledet fall to the ground. Soon after, Johnny threw a kick that missed him and several punches that led to Justin's knockout.
In a duel between Brazilians, Livinha Souza beat Sarah Frota by split decision
Livinha Souza and Sarah Frota opened the UFC Fortaleza main card with a duel in the women's strawweight division. After three rounds with a lot of jiu-jitsu, 'Brazilian Gangster' beat 'Treta' from the judges (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Thus, the athlete from Araraquara has her second victory in Ultimate.
The confrontation between the Brazilians started very technically. Livinha put her rival on the ground and Sarah tried to apply a guillotine choke, but was unable to close it. Frota on top threw blows to the face of the opponent who resisted. Souza got up and took the fight to striking. The athlete from Araraquara caught her opponent in single lag, took her down, got on top and punished her compatriot. Thus, the round ended.
Seeking to reverse the result, Sarah applied blows to her opponent and took the fight to the ground again. Frota pulled his rival into his guard and thus prevented 'Livinha' from being able to deliver hard-hitting blows. Without combativeness, the referee put the fight on its feet, but the fight went to the ground again. Lívia managed to get up and started an exchange with her opponent in the center of the cage. Souza took the takedown and used a guillotine choke, but it wasn't effective in the choke. Another robbery comes to an end.
The last round began with Livinha attacking her rival, who responded with punches. Sarah got the takedown and began to punish her compatriot who retaliated with a leg lock.
