Marlon moraes showed Ultimate why he should be the next challenger for the bantamweight belt. In the main fight of UFC Fortaleza, this Saturday (02), the athlete from Nova Friburgo submitted his compatriot Raphael Assunção in 3m17s of competition, he overcame the setback he had suffered in 2017 and gave himself a chance at the title.

With the triumph, the fourth in a row in Ultimate, Marlon should leave fourth place in the bantamweight rankings and be close to the chance for the title, currently in possession of TJ Dillashaw.
“Eight years ago, I left Nova Friburgo in a tragedy similar to that in Brumadinho and today I am here. I wanted to say that I'm going to get this belt! I'm smart enough to know that I'm the best in my division. Our champion dropped in weight and lost a fight he should have won because he was much bigger”, said Marlon still in the Octagon
The fight
The reunion between the bantamweights had a studied start and the athletes were trying to find the distance for the blows to land. Moraes applied a left jab to the face of his compatriot who retaliated with a low kick. More aggressive, Marlon landed a right hand bomb to Raphael's face. The Pernambuco native went to the ground. Despite being the target of several blows, Assunção resisted and remained in the dispute. However, Marlon lassoed his rival's neck while he was still standing, grabbed the guillotine choke and went to the ground only to force his rival to give up the fight.
