Amanda nunes knocked out Chris Cyborg at 51 seconds of the co-main event of UFC 232, December 29, in Los Angeles. In addition to surprising MMA fans with her quick victory, the Bahian woman won the featherweight title and became the first fighter to hold two Ultimate belts simultaneously. Almost two weeks after the event, the coach of the Paraná native Jason Parillo spoke about the superfight in an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie. He stated that Cristiane lost the confrontation to herself.

Parillo explained that after receiving a kick to the leg and two punches from Amanda after 24 seconds, Cris felt the blows and returned to being the 'Cyborg of old'. With that, she went 'all or nothing' with her compatriot and forgot the fight plan.

“What I saw was Cris beating herself. I said in many interviews before the fight that this was my biggest concern: that she would be the Cyborg of old, going all or nothing, forgetting the fight plan. I told her that the higher we got, the harder it would be to stay there in that fighting style. We have to think a little more, and stay behind the jab. I know my fighter, and I saw how she reacted when that kick hit her leg. Instead of moving away and going after the jab, she decided to go after Amanda with everything she could to get the knockout, and ended up being caught that way. It was one of those moments where you think: 'she didn't do that…' as soon as Cris started to 'swing' towards the fence. She went into “disrespect mode”, as if she could walk over anyone. But whoever was in front of her was a very talented fighter, with a lot of knockout power. This was how Cris could be defeated, when she faced someone who had the ability to remain calm in the face of her aggressive style. Amanda deserves all the respect for that”, explained Jason.

Despite the defeat, Parillo admitted that now fans will see Cyborg's real personality, who she really is. This is because when the athlete only wins, it is not possible to know his character, as people only see him as 'the toughest person in the world'.

PUBLICITY:

“The good thing about this is that, finally, people will finally get to know the personality of Chris Cyborg. When you only win, you can't get to know that athlete's personality – people only see them as winners and as the toughest person in the world. I don't think anyone – fans or people in the MMA industry – would be able to get to know the true personality of Chris Cyborg if she hadn't suffered this defeat. Everyone saw the way she embraced Amanda, how humble she was in defeat. This is Chris Cyborg”, said the Brazilian’s coach.

Cyborg's contract with the UFC ends in March this year and Jason hopes that the Paraná native will have one more fight by then. However, he does not believe it will be a rematch with Amanda nunes.

PUBLICITY:

“I don’t think they’re going to give us an immediate rematch, but that’s okay. If we can fight until March it will be excellent. But I don't know if that will happen. Negotiations are work for the entrepreneur. I just want the best for Cris”, concluded Parillo.
