Ricardo Demente had a promising start in MMA. World jiu-jitsu champion, the Brazilian has already accumulated two victories in two fights in his new venture. Now, the black belt from Brazil will have the biggest challenge of his MMA career: against the experienced Ben “Blitzkrieg” Jones.

Demente, who was fighting in the 84kg category, will have to move up in weight until he reaches the 93kg limit (light heavyweight). The fight is scheduled for the 30th of this month, at the Extreme Fighters World Championship, in California, United States.

While Jones wants to score his fourth consecutive victory, Demente seeks to prove that he was not a world jiu-jitsu champion by chance and that his migration to MMA is to collect victories and win belts, no matter who he is against.

“It will be my first fight outside Brazil. But I'm in a good headspace, calm. And if he knows how to finish, I also know this area well”, said Ricardo.

Demente said that the most important thing is his evolution and his confidence, which grows with each day of training.

“I'm better at striking and I want to be good in all aspects to try not to be surprised,” he said. “It's going to be a tough fight, and that's what I want, to prove that I'm better every time I step into the octagon,” concluded Demente.
