Anthony Pettis considers moving up to welterweight to face Stephen Thompson

The former lightweight champion revealed through his social network his interest in moving up a category to face 'Wonderboy'

Anthony Pettis seems to want to take a new direction in his career in 2019 and has his eyes set on the big duels. The former lightweight champion revealed through his social network that he wants to face Stephen Thompson at welterweight.

“I heard someone is looking for a fight. What do you think? Take my talents to the welterweight division and test myself against this guy? Let me know if you guys are excited about this fight”, wrote 'Showtime'.

In response to the post, Thompson stated that he accepts the fight with Pettis for the fans. “For the fans! If @showtimepettis wants to come try it, you know I'm ready. We are both featured, let’s do this,” he wrote.

Anthony Pettis was lightweight champion from 2011 to 2014, when he was dethroned by Rafael dos Anjos in March 2015 at UFC 185. Since then, 'Showtime' has experienced an irregular moment in Ultimate, in eight fights he has lost five. His last victory was at UFC 226, when he submitted Michael chiesa.
