After marking his return to Japan last Saturday, Ultimate arrives in Australia and will hold UFC on FX 2 this Friday (2). The main fight of the night will be in charge of the Brazilian Thiago Pitbull Alves, who will face the Danish Martin Kampmann, in a duel valid for the welterweight division.
Pitbull, who has a professional record of 19 wins and eight losses, has always been considered one of the best athletes in the welterweight division. But after losing the chance to win the category title, at UFC 100, when he was surpassed by Geroges St. Pierre, the athlete from Ceará entered a bad phase: injuries, excess weight and defeats. However, in his last performance, Thiago made peace with the triumph and finished Papy Abedi with just over three minutes of fighting. Now, willing to resume his winning streak, Pitbull does not hide his optimism for the duel against Kampmann.

“I still believe he is one of the biggest competitors in the category. After this fight, I'm definitely going to solidify that. I found the old Pitbull inside me. He was sleeping, but he woke up summoned now”, said the Brazilian, leaving no doubt about his preparation for the confrontation.
In turn, the Danish Martin Kampmann, who has a record of 18 wins and five losses, also exudes confidence and promises to surpass the Brazilian to try to be among the possible challengers for the category title.
“I know I’m going to beat this guy. After that, the UFC can line up anyone they want and I'll take them down. I can beat anyone in the division and I’m ready to prove it,” said a confident Kampmann.
Flyweight GP
UFC on FX 2 also brings something new. The organization opens the competition for the flyweight category (up to 57 kg) with two semifinals: Demetrious Johnson faces Ian McCall and Joseph Benavidez vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani. The winners will face each other in 2012, defining the first flyweight champion.
While McCall and Urushitani are UFC newcomers, Johnson and Benavidez have already impressed in the top division (bantamweight). Demetrious last fought the champion Dominick Cruz, when he had the chance to fight for the belt. Benavidez also tried to steal the title from Cruz, in the now defunct WEC.
