King Mo fights infection that almost caused his leg to be amputated

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammad “King mo” Lawal is going through the biggest drama of his career. After being suspended for doping After his victory over Lorenz Larkin in January, Lawal is now fighting for his career – and his health.

Days after beating Larkin, Lawal underwent knee surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament. He then ended up infected with staphylococcus bacteria and needed to undergo seven more surgeries to remove the infectious material from his knee. King mo He was hospitalized for twelve days, receiving antibiotics 24 hours a day through a peripherally inserted central catheter, and was at risk of having his leg amputated.

Antibiotics were administered twice a day. “Now I’m just trying to stay positive and hope this medicine works. If it works, I can’t wait to get back in the cage,” Lawal told the American website MMAjunkie.

The athlete also explained how he ended up contaminated during the surgical procedure:
