The Brazilians put on a show on the preliminary card of UFC 231, an event held this Saturday (08), in Toronto (CAN). With four representatives in the opening program, three left the octagon with their hands raised. Gilbert Durinho, Dhiego Lima e Carlos Diego Ferreira showed their superiority and beat the hosts Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Chad Laprise and kyle nelsonrespectively.

The country's only setback on the preliminary card was Claudinha gadelha, which was defeated by Nina ansaroff, engaged to the UFC bantamweight champion Amanda nunes.
Durinho wins another
Even with the fans in favor, Olivier Aubin-Mercier was unable to overcome Gilbert Durinho. The Brazilian dominated the three rounds and was close to submitting the host. Even so, he beat the Canadian by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
With the triumph, the black belt achieved the 14th victory of his career. His opponent, 'Quebec Kid' recorded the second defeat in a row in his career.
The clash between the lightweights got off to a busy start. The Canadian public demonstrated their preference for the home athlete by singing: 'Olé, olé, olé'. However, Durinho managed a nice takedown and began his work on the ground. Olivier tried to get up using the fence, but Gilbert did everything he could to prevent his rival from taking the fight to the top. The Canadian managed to get up, but Burns landed a right hand bomb that knocked him down again. The Brazilian began to hammer with a sequence of blows, however, the referee did not stop the confrontation. So, the carioca tried to take the back and then tried to put in an armbar that didn't stick. The round ends with the jiu-jitsu black belt looking for the submission.
The Canadian started the second round by attacking the Tupiniquim black belt. The crowd went into the octagon with Aubin-Mercier through their chants. He tried some attacks on the Brazilian who had his guard closed. Olivier started to grow in this round and landed an upper on Durinho that took the fight to the cage. However, Gilbert managed to escape and took the fight to the ground and finished the partial on top.
The third round began with attacks from the Brazilian. The direct shots went into the Canadian's face. Without giving up on his jiu-jitsu, Durinho took the single leg and managed to take down his rival. With more than two minutes left in the round, Burns began working on the gentle art. The Brazilian took 'Quebec Kid's' back and tried to lock in a rear naked choke, but his opponent wouldn't let him. Even so, he punished his opponent with hard blows. The judo black belt got out of the grip and got up and the fight between the lightweights remained in open exchange until it reached the end.

Dhiego Lima He entered the Octagon at UFC 231 with the difficult mission of achieving victory to continue in Ultimate. Even so, he entered confidently and managed a knockout over Chad Laprise in just 1:37 of the first round. In this way, the Brazilian ends a sequence of three defeats and adds the 13th triumph of his career. The Canadian scores the second defeat in a row and the fourth of the record.
In an interview inside the cage, Dhiego knelt down and asked for the 'Performance of the Night' award so he could give his three children a good Christmas present.
The confrontation began with the two welterweight athletes trying to find the distance. The Brazilian started applying jabs. Surprising the home owner, Dhiego managed to land a left cross that caught his rival square in the chin. Just like that, Chad fell unconscious to the floor. Lima didn't even need to continue punching, as Laprise was already knocked out after just 1m37s.

Brazil's participation in Canada began with a beautiful performance by Diego Ferreira in the second fight of the night. The Amazonian showed his experience to the debutant kyle nelson and knocked him out at 1m23s of the second round. Thus, Carlos has his third consecutive victory in Ultimate. Now, the home owner interrupts a sequence of six victories and records the second defeat of the series.
The fight between the lightweights started out studied. With the crowd in favor, Nelson landed a good blow on the Brazilian's face that he felt. Next, Kyle connected with a shin kick from a front kick that took Carlos to the ground. Without wanting to take the fight to the ground, the Canadian asked for the fight to return to standing. Ferreira, who seemed to be out of fighting rhythm, started attacking his rival more. Until the moment he managed to use his jiu-jitsu and put the duel down. Diego tried to apply an American (armbar), but was unable to submit his opponent. Taking advantage of the position, the Amazonian applied elbows until he climbed to mount. So, he reached behind, placed his hooks and crushed his opponent. This way the first round came to an end.
At the beginning of the second round, the Brazilian attacked the Canadian and managed to get the takedown. This way, Carlos started to strike from above and Kyle tried to survive. Even so, the referee ended the confrontation at 1m23s.

Claudinha gadelha was surpassed by Nina ansaroff in the fight that closed the preliminary card of UFC 231. The American won the Brazilian unanimous decision from the judges (29-28 29-28 29-28). Thus, 'Strina' added the fourth consecutive victory in the organization and the tenth triumph in his career. While playing in Rio de Janeiro, she recorded the fourth defeat on her record.
The fight began with Gadelha's attacks on his fiancée. Amanda nunes. Claudinha closed the distance, took Nina to the fence and got the takedown. Thus, the Brazilian managed to work on guarding her rival. Ansaroff swept Claudia and got back to his feet. The last round started with attacks from the Brazilian. However, Nina continued to score with low kicks to the Brazilian's legs. The North American connected good blows and kept a safe distance from Claudinha. Ansaroff took advantage of his reach and continued scoring with jabs, straight shots and kicks. Thus, the third round came to an end.
