UFC President confirms that Anderson Silva will fight for the belt if he beats Adesanya

Upon his return to Ultimate, Anderson Silva was chosen to face Israel adesanya at UFC 234, on February 02nd, in Australia. After confirming the duel, the Brazilian revealed that he would fight for the middleweight belt if he beat the young fighter. In an interview with the Combate channel website, Ultimate president Dana White assured that 'Spider' will be the next challenger for the title if he beats 'Last Stylebender'.

'Yes it is true. If the Anderson Silva defeat Israel, he will compete for the belt', said White on Friday (30).

Before thinking about the title, Anderson will have to overcome the promise of Ultimate. Israel adesanya remains undefeated in MMA after 15 fights. At 29 years old, 'Last Stylebender' occupies sixth place in the middleweight rankings. In four matches in the organization, the Nigerian beat Rob Wilkinson, Marvin vettori, Brad Tavares e Derek Brunson.

Anderson Silva hasn't fought since February 2017 at UFC 208, when he defeated Derek Brunson by decision of the arbitrators. The Brazilian was scheduled to face Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Shanghai in November last year, but was caught in a drug test and suspended for 12 months. 'Spider' UFC middleweight champion for seven years and has 42 fights, 34 triumphs and eight setbacks.
