Jones admits he would have left UFC if USADA suspension was four years

'Bones' assured that he would have asked to be released from his contract with the franchise so that he could fight outside the jurisdiction of the United States Anti-Doping Agency

Jon Jones knocked out Daniel Cormier in the main fight of UFC 214 on July 29, 2017. However, 'Bones' was caught in the doping test carried out the day before the fight and the result was reversed to a no contest. The test revealed the use of steroids to increase muscle mass. After a 14-month delay, the United States Anti-Doping Agency announced that the former light heavyweight champion would receive a 15-month suspension.

With a retroactive suspension, Jon was cleared to return to the Octagon on October 28th. On the eve of his return to Ultimate, Jones admitted that he would have left the UFC if the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) suspension had been four years.

“I was facing a four-year suspension and that was it.[…] I probably would have talked to the UFC about getting out of my contract and fighting abroad. I feel like a lot of organizations would be happy to have me. I think they paid me very well. It's definitely not the money I make in the UFC, but I felt that wherever I moved, I would be one of their priorities and I would be treated well", said the former light heavyweight champion in an interview with the North American channel ESPN.

Jon Jones He has already been caught three times in anti-doping tests for using cocaine and steroids. Furthermore, 'Bones' also caused a traffic accident involving three vehicles, which injured a pregnant woman who was driving one of the cars.
