After serving a one-year suspension for doping, the Brazilian Thiago Silva was chosen to face Brandon vera, his last opponent, in UFC On FX 3, on May 15th. Now the rematch will have to wait a little longer.
The UFC officially announced that the American was injured and will not be able to fight in May. The type of injury was not disclosed and the fight was cancelled.
Thiago Silva he had beaten Brandon Vera at UFC 125, on January 1, 2010. The result resulted in Vera being fired at the time. Days later, the Brazilian was caught in an anti-doping test and had his suspension aggravated due to a falsification in the test. The UFC 125 duel was then changed to I didn't answer and Vera was reinstated to the UFC roster.
The American made his return at UFC 137, beating Eliot Marshall via unanimous decision. A rematch against Silva had been announced last Thursday, February 2th.
