The UFC 231 card, on December 8th, in Toronto, Canada, will have a true legion of Brazilians. With six Brazilian athletes already selected, another representative of the country is close to being confirmed on the show. This is welterweight Alex Cowboy, who will face Icelandic Gunnar Nelson. The information was given first-hand by journalist Brett Okamoto, from the American ESPN.

Number 13 in the under-77kg ranking, Cowboy has won four of his last five fights, the most recent being against Carlo Pedersoli in the UFC Sao Paulo, last September, when he needed just 39 seconds to knock out the Italian. In total, he has nine wins, three losses and one unsuccessful fight in the organization.
Away from the Octagon for over a year, Nelson, 14th on the welterweight list, is looking for a comeback after being knocked out by Santiago Ponzinibbio, in July 2017. In Ultimate since 2012, Gunnar won seven (six by submission) of the 10 fights he had in the house – Demian Maia and Rick Story were his other tormentors.
In addition to Cowboy, six more Brazilians are confirmed on the card. Renato Moicano, Thiago Marreta, Gilbert Durinho, Dhiego Lima, Claudinha gadelha e Carlos Diego Ferreira, who face, respectively, Mirsad Bektic, Jimi Manuwa, Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Chad Laprise, Nina ansaroff e John makdessi.
