Hendricks guarantees that boxing experience can help him return to MMA

Even after announcing his retirement, the fighter was unable to stay away from the ring for long and will fight in the World Bareknuckle Combat Federation in November

Earlier this year, John hendricks announced his retirement from MMA. However, the period in which he remained away from the ring was short. The former welterweight champion is preparing for his first bare-knuckle boxing fight in the World Bareknuckle Fighting Federation (WBKFF). He will face the former Bellator, Brennan ward, November 9th. In an interview with the North American website MMAjunkie, 'Bigg Rigg' revealed that his boxing training could help him in a possible return to MMA.

“I always wanted to try boxing. It's just one of those things that sounds really fun. All I have to do is work on my hands. And if I return to the world of MMA, think about how much better my hands will be”, confided Jonny.

When announcing that he would ‘hang up his gloves’, Hendricks admitted that he had decided not to return to MMA. Due to the interest of the events, he acknowledged that he is considering returning to the cage. “I’m going to tell you God’s honest truth: I’m done. I didn't want to do it, but [my manager] Jason [House], he called me and said these guys are interested,” concluded the former welterweight champion.

With a 10-year career in professional MMA, Hendricks has 26 fights, with 18 triumphs and eight setbacks. Jonny won the belt over Robbie Lawler at UFC 171 in March 2014. His reign lasted eight months and 20 days until his rematch against ‘Ruthless’ at UFC 181 in December 2014.
