Júnior Assunção is fired from UFC

After just two fights in his return to the UFC, Brazilian Júnior Assunção was fired from the biggest MMA organization in the world. This Tuesday, the athlete from Pernambuco, whose seven-fight winning streak was broken at UFC 141, announced his dismissal on Twitter.

“I just got fired from the UFC… Wow! Apparently, they didn’t like my last fight,” the fighter wrote on the microblog. “I was on a good winning streak until my last fight, I really don't understand. The boss even told me that he liked my last fight, I even earned some (extra) money for my performance…”, added Assunção.

The Brazilian athlete also revealed that if he knew his job was at risk, he would not accept facing Englishman Ross Pearson, who won the ninth edition of The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC's reality show. “If I knew I was at risk I would take an easier fight. I have to swallow this and evolve”, concluded the Brazilian.

This is Júnior Assunção's second stint in the UFC, where the Brazilian defeated Eddie Yagin at UFC 135, in September, but was soon defeated by Ross Pearson in the judges' decision, at UFC 141. The first time the fighter was In the organization, between 2006 and 2007, Júnior won one fight and was defeated on two other occasions.
