UFC will not change the result of the fight between Erick and Prater

the fight between Erick silva e Carlos Prater was the most controversial of UFC Rio 2. In the fight, held last Saturday (14), Erick needed just 27 seconds to knock his opponent down and punish Prater with punches on the ground. However, after the end of the duel, referee Mário Yamasaki disqualified the athlete from Espírito Santo for throwing punches to the back of the head during strikes on the ground.

After reviewing the replay, the organization's president, Dana White, revealed that Yamazaki acted wrongly and Erick should not be eliminated. Furthermore, the director stated that the result of the duel would be evaluated and even changed by the organization of the event. However, this Friday, Marc Ratner, former director of the Nevada Athletic Commission and current UFC consultant, announced that the result will be maintained.

“Based on the referee's verbal warnings and his finding that the illegal strikes were intentional and a disqualifying foul, this is not the type of decision that can be reviewed. Therefore, the decision will be maintained,” said Ratner.
