Charles submits, breaks Royce Gracie's record and cheers the fans at UFC São Paulo

In the last fight of the UFC São Paulo preliminary card, the Brazilian had 11 submissions in his career and overtook Royce Gracie

History was made on Saturday night (22) at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium. The paulista Charles of the Bronx wrote his name in Ultimate by landing a fair rear naked choke on Christos Giagos, score his 11th submission and break the legend's submission record Royce gracie. The fight closed the preliminary card of the UFC Sao Paulo, held at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium.

The fight

The first round started evenly. Charles kicked the legs of Giagos who tried to knee the Brazilian. The São Paulo native stuck to the North American who didn't want to be taken to the ground. With that, he worked to return the fight to the center of the cage. Do Bronx, who was looking for a ground fight, dove at Christos' legs and took him down. Quickly, the Bronx's Gold Team athlete mounted his opponent who got up. Afterwards, Charles landed a front kick and tried to take the duel to the ground, but to no avail. The second fight began with the North American attack. He landed a cross and hook combination on the Brazilian. In response, Charles returned a front kick. With a good sequence, Do Bronx connected a spinning punch and two kicks to the waist. With two minutes left in the round, the São Paulo native managed to take down his opponent and took his back.

Massaranduba knockout raises Brazilian fans

Francisco Massaranduba promised an unforgettable fight to end his career Evan dunham. And that's exactly what he did. The North American started the fight by kicking the Brazilian who grabbed his leg and connected blows to his face. Soon after, Dunham came into range of action. massaranduba and is hit with more punches. Evan tried to take Massara who responded by kicking his rival in the face. This got the crowd going. The fighters closed the distance and the Piauí native took a good direct hit and knocked him off balance.

North American victory on Brazilian soil

Coming from the North American Contender Series, Ryan spann beat Luis Henrique KLB by unanimous decision of the judges (30-27, 29-28, 30-27). With the triumph, he has 15 victories in his career. Meanwhile, the Brazilian goes to his third consecutive defeat.

The North American was the first non-Brazilian to leave with his arm raised on the card of the UFC Sao Paulo.

The North American started the fight by attacking. Spann landed a jab to KLB's face, which turned red. In response, Luis dived at the legs of his rival who tried to grab his neck. Ryan managed to apply a guillotine choke. The experienced Brazilian spun and freed himself from his opponent's grip. Afterwards, the fighters engaged in a frank exchange with crosses and straight shots. The Rio native managed to take down his opponent, but without time to work. The second round begins with Spann landing four jabs on KLB. The Brazilian hit his opponent with a counterattack. The Tata Fight Team athlete defended his rival's submission attempt and threw elbows in response. In order not to lose his dominant position, Luis crushed his rival on the ground. The Brazilian starts the third round attacking his opponent. He grabbed Spann around the waist and knocked him down. KLB managed to stay in half guard. Undefended, Ryan let Luis take his back.
