Thales leites retired from MMA in style. In his last fight of his career, the Brazilian suffered in the first round, but showed a lot of courage to recover and defeat the Cuban Hector Lombard in the unanimous decision of the judges (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). The fight was featured on the preliminary card of the UFC Sao Paulo, held this Saturday (22), at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium

In an interview inside the octagon, Thales, who had 21 fights in seven years in the franchise, thanked the fans for their gifts at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium.

The fight

The first round began with Thales taking the initiative in the middle distance. But Lombard put his strategy into practice and abused Thales' leg kicks. The Cuban's blows left the Brazilian's joints quite swollen and made movement difficult.

In the second round, even with difficult movement, Thales showed a lot of courage. He closed the distance so as not to receive any more kicks to the knee, connected with good punches and even knocked down his rival, who quickly got up. The Brazilian still landed another good punch on the Cuban, who no longer had the same power in his kicks.

With the fight balanced, the third round would be responsible for defining the winner. More solid, Thales continued to impose his pace, landing knees on the waistline. The Cuban tried to stop the fight in the clinch, but still received hard blows until the end of the fight.

Elizeu Capoeira entered the octagon as one of the biggest favorites of the night. But Luigui Vendramini brought many difficulties to the Paraná native. However, after suffering a scare in the first round, the veteran managed to end the fight with a beautiful knockout.

At the beginning of the fight, Capoeira started attacking with a high kick. Vendramini tried to block, but ended up being knocked down. Elizeu catches his opponent in the Peruvian tie, but Luigi managed to escape the submission. Afterwards, the Brasilia native, who was called up at the last minute, recovered sensationally. He managed to get to Capoeira's back and almost finished.

During the exchange of blows, Vendramini tried to kick the knee, but it was he who felt the foot. Without missing the opportunity, Elizeu went up and landed a flying knee to his opponent's face. Lívia Renata Souza put on a show in her UFC debut. The Brazilian submitted Alex Chambers with a guillotine choke at 1m21s of the first round. 'Livinha' has three consecutive victories in her career. Meanwhile, her opponent has four fights in the organization and has three losses.

“I have the best coaches, the best team, you know, uncle? The mess is crazy. First I tried to make her get lost on top, on the ground I knew where to go. I tried to mount it, her neck was left and I made the adjustment. I train this position a lot”, said Livinha still in the Octagon.

Even though it was her debut in the organization, Livinha showed her 'calling card' to her more experienced rival. In the first few seconds, the Brazilian landed a straight right that hit home and made her opponent wobble. With that, 'The Brazilian gangster' went up and took down Chambers with a single leg. The newcomer managed to lasso Alex's neck on the ground. Thus, the São Paulo native used a guillotine choke and forced her opponent to give her three taps.
