BJ Penn attacks opponents and makes it clear that he will not retire

After the defeat to Nick Diaz in the main fight of UFC 137, ending a year without victories, B.J. Penn announced that he was retiring from MMA. The Hawaiian took a vacation and went out of business. The time away seems to have had an effect on the fighter. On his Twitter, “Prodigy” attacked Diaz and Jon Fitch in one fell swoop, the two opponents from 2011:

"Nick Diaz, look in this photo how much bigger you are… I thought you were going to come to blows from the beginning, man. What was that cowardly strategy of pinning a smaller guy against the fence, just to tire him out? Street fighters are the c***! I made you fight like glass-jawed Jon Fitch, you poser! I’ll be ready for it the next time we fight!”

Pedro Carrasco, director of MMA news at website BJPenn.com, tried to explain the reaction of the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion:

“There’s a reason he did it. The holiday season is over, and so are his post-fight distractions. He has nothing to do, he has been thinking and is not happy with the way he performed in his last fights. I'm not here to make excuses for him, but I'm sure anyone with any sense of intelligence can realize that the BJ who faced (Frankie) Edgar, Fitch and Diaz was not the same one who fought Diego (Sanchez) and (Kenny ) Florian. Things have changed, he's back. The murderous mentality and fire is back and the tweet back shows that he is boiling hot! Expect more from Penn, for sure!”
