Five reasons to watch UFC 228 this Saturday

For the third time, the city of Dallas, in the state of Texas (USA), will host the Ultimate spectacle. UFC 228 takes place this Saturday from 19pm (Brasília time) with the belt at stake. In the main fight of the show, welterweight champion (up to 77,1kg), Tyron Woodly puts the title up for grabs against the challenger Darren till. After the exit of champion Nicco Montano from the dispute, the duel between Brazilian Jéssica 'Bate-Estaca' and Polish Karolina Kowalkiewicz it was promoted as the second most important fight on the show. To maintain his reign as welterweight champion, Tyron woodley will face Darren till in the main fight of UFC 228. In two years with the title, the North American put the belt up for grabs on three occasions against Stephen Thompson (twice) and Demian Maia.

At 36 years old, Woodley has 22 fights in his career, 18 wins, three losses and one draw. In the last six fights, he has triumphed five times over Dong Hyun Kim, Kelvin Gastelum, Robbie Lawler, Stephen Thompson e Demian Maia.

During fight week, Darren till became the focus of journalists and MMA fans. They questioned whether the challenger for the welterweight title would make weight and confirm the fight. After stepping on the scale, the Englishman vented and made obscene gestures at the camera.

At 25 years old, Till has a record of 18 fights with 17 wins and one draw. In his last four clashes, the Englishman beat Jessin Ayari, Bojan Veličković, Donald Cerrone e Stephen Thompson. The Muay Thai specialist ended his fights on 10 occasions by knockout. The sequence of victories saw the fighter climb the welterweight rankings and reach second place.

Brazil's only representative at UFC 228, Jessica Andrade will face Karolina Kowalkiewicz to be the next challenger for the women's strawweight title against the champion, Rose namajunas. Currently, the Curitiba native occupies second place in the division ranking.

Bate-Estaca has a record of 24 fights with 18 victories and six setbacks. The Brazilian challenged for the category belt against the champion, Joanna Jędrzejczyk at UFC 211 in May 2017, but was defeated by unanimous decision from the judges. After that, the Paraná native won a sequence of two victories over Claudia gadelha e Tecia torres.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz faces Jéssica 'Bate-Estaca' in search of a victory that will convince the UFC president that she should be the next challenger for the strawweight title. The Polish woman occupies fourth place in the division ranking.

The 32-year-old fighter has the experience to be next in line for the category belt. In November 2016, the Pole faced her compatriot and was defeated by unanimous decision. She also beat the current champion on points, Rose namajunas in July 2016.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz He has 13 fights in his MMA career: 11 triumphs and two setbacks. In her last two fights, the Polish woman beat Jodie Esquibel and Felice herrig by decision of the judges. Before that, the fighter was defeated by Joanna Jędrzejczyk (for the belt) and Claudia gadelha.

The jiu-jitsu specialist, Jessica, of her 18 victories, won seven by submission via guillotine, rear naked choke or triangle choke.

Worth keeping an eye on

Also discovered on the Contender Series, Geoff neal beat Chase Waldon by knockout and won a contract with the organization. His debut in the franchise was in ufc austin in February this year.
