The light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier made his return to heavyweight in July this year, at UFC 226 against Stipe Miocic. He knocked out his rival, made history in Ultimate and became the second fighter to win two belts. In an interview with “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” DC said he plans to defend his light heavyweight title before retiring in March 2019.

“For me, returning to the category below will be difficult, but I intend to do it. Honestly I'm a heavyweight. I weigh 245 pounds (111kg) normally, but I reduce to 205 (93kG) whenever I fight 205, so I lose 40 pounds (18kg) to fight in that weight class,” explained the champion.

By becoming two-division champion, Daniel Cormier guarantees that his legacy will be marked forever in Ultimate. Thus, he will be remembered even after his retirement.

"Legacy. That means legacy. You know, I'm 39 years old, so for a long time, I thought about being remembered as one of the greats, and by doing that, I'll always be remembered when my career is over,” said Daniel.

Even with Cormier's desire to defend his title, the champion still does not have a defined opponent. He believes that Corey anderson, Ilir Latifi e Anthony Smith are accredited to be the next challenger. There is still another opponent who could compete for the belt in the future, the former champion and arch-rival, Jon Jones who is about to return to Ultimate after USADA responded about his punishment.
