The two-time flyweight champion, Joseph Benavidez feels he has the chance to be the next challenger in the category against Henry Cejudo. The Alpha Male athlete had won six in a row until his defeat to Sergio Pettis in June of this year. If the American achieves another victory over Ray Borg at UFC Denver, that could happen.

“For me, I don’t think anyone would argue if I fought [Cejudo] next. I have a win over him, and that's the biggest thing for me right now. I am your last defeat”, said Benavidez in an interview with the website “MMAJunkie”.

Cejudo and Benavidez fought in December 2016 at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale in Las Vegas and Joseph emerged victorious via split decision.

In a comparison with the former champion, Demetrious Johnson, Benavidez claims his loss to Pettis was preceded by six consecutive victories over the best fighters in the division while he lost by a long margin to Cejudo.

“The six wins in a row I had, and the loss was a very close fight, and that was to a guy who lost to Cejudo by a huge margin. The fact that I have a win over him, I think that puts me in a good place,” explained Joseph.
