Even in litigation with the UFC, the current heavyweight champion in the category, Randy Couture, stated that it makes no sense to face the Brazilian Rodrigo Minotauro at the current stage of his career. The Captain of America says that due to his age he is already thinking about retiring, but he wants to face the beast in every way, Fedor Emelianenko.
“I’m 44 (years old) and looking at the end of my career. I want the best guy to fight in all of. This fight is the only way that will happen. It doesn't make sense for the UFC to criticize me for not fighting (Rodrigo) Nogueira, and I have a lot of respect for Minotauro. I think he's a great fighter, but he was beaten twice by Fedor. This fight doesn't make sense to me right now. If I have more fights after Fedor, maybe I'll fight Nogueira next, but at this point, he just doesn't make sense.”
