“Retinal detachment is a common problem in contact sports and that several fighters have had, so much so that, in my last five MMA fights, I had already undergone surgery for retinal detachment, including the one in which I competed for the world title. in 2015 with the Ronda Rousey. I have never been rejected from any commission and I have fought in several different countries with the same problem, only here in California where it is known as the “land of dreams” they destroyed my hope of making my triumphant return this Saturday”, said the Brazilian.

Bethe's clash with Aldana was canceled and will not be replaced by another at UFC 227. The Brazilian's return to the cage will depend on a new medical approval on the condition of her eye. Pitbull had his last fight in July 2017, when he lost to Holly holm.

PUBLICITY:

It wasn't the post I would love to make, which would be fighting on Saturday, with the emotion and adrenaline of the fight, feeling my arm being lifted. However, I post this photo that I took last night during my last workout, with only 4 kg left to lose by Friday. I traveled to Los Angeles for the UFC with great expectations, as I hadn't fought for over a year, I did everything with the utmost discipline so nothing went wrong, I was feeling more prepared than ever, with new fight repertoires and physically stronger. However, today I was surprised by the California athletic commission, informing me that I would not be able to fight on Saturday, due to a vision problem. I became aware of the condition of my eyes. I went to several ophthalmologists accredited by the Brazilian Society of Ophthalmology. I took great care with my health and my ocular integrity, especially after the surgery, and was even cleared by doctors before the trip. I have current reports from 3 doctors who have been following me since the beginning, reporting that I am cleared to fight. Act with dignity! I was and I am being loyal! I am fully aware that I am capable of training and fighting! Retinal detachment is a common problem in contact sports and one that several fighters have had, so much so that, in my last 5 MMA fights, I had already undergone surgery for retinal detachment, including the one in which I competed for the world title in 2015 with Ronda Rousey. I've never been rejected by any commission and I've fought in several different countries with the same problem, only here in California where it's known as the “land of dreams” they destroyed my hope of making my triumphant return this Saturday 😢 I thank the UFC for giving me always challenges and better fights, I just want to say that I'm ready! Trained, focused, strong, at the weight to fight anyone and in any event they choose. It was 4 months of camp, preparing, training, sweating, paying high expenses and it hurts a lot, with only 4 days left until the big day, receiving this news, preventing me from fighting, even though I felt so good, so prepared. Sorry for all the words, but this situation, in my entire career, is the most difficult. #ufc227
