Joanna Jedrzejczyk fires at Rose Namajunas: 'she just wants a vacation'

Former strawweight champion claims Namajunas is lying about her injury to avoid a third fight against her

With a victory over Tecia torres at UFC Calgary on Saturday (28), Joanna Jedrzejczyk placed herself once again as a challenger for the women's strawweight title. The champion, Rose namajunas He is unlikely to return to the Octagon until the end of the year due to injury. In a post-event press conference, the Polish fighter assured that the belt holder could be lying about her injury.

“What I'm hearing is that she's not really hurt. I don't know. Maybe she's hurt, so I'm sorry. I give you credit. She is the champion. If she's hurt, that's okay. But if she's just playing, and she just wants a vacation, let the UFC know that. 'I want a holiday, I want a break.' Let the UFC make an interim belt and let’s fight for the belt”, teased Joanna.

The former champion made it clear that she wants a trilogy with Namajunas for the belt that was hers for two years. Jedrzejczyk lost the strawweight title to Rose in November 2017 at UFC 217 with a first-round knockout. The second meeting between the fighters was in April this year at UFC 223 and the American got the better of her and came away with a decision victory.

With the two consecutive victories, Namajunas declared that she would only face Jedrzejczyk again if she admitted that the champion is a better fighter than her. “Rose saying she’s going to give me the third fight after I say she’s the best? No way. Maybe you beat me and you're the champion, and you won, but your legacy isn't that great. You must bow because I am the queen. I give you respect,” Joanna explained.

Jedrzejczyk believes Namajunas is doing everything she can to avoid a third fight against her. She also said that if Rose is out for a long time, Ultimate should have a fight for the interim belt.

Determined to regain the title, Joanna believes she is a superior fighter to Rose. “I will chase you. I'm going to chase the belt. I'll chase you until the next fight. I will become a champion again,” concluded Jedrzejczyk.
