The featherweight champion, Max Holloway was removed from the confrontation against Brian ortega at UFC 226, after concussion symptoms were detected during the weight cut on Wednesday night (04). After the news was released, many fighters shared the American's departure from the card on their social networks.
Following the announcement of the featherweight champion's departure, his team released an official statement:

“The team Max Holloway and the UFC staff realized that Max had not been normal since last week. This has become obvious to many from watching his interviews and public appearances in recent days. He showed concussion symptoms even before he started weight cutting and was rushed to the emergency room when they admitted him last night. Initial tests showed that he was fine and he was released on Tuesday afternoon, but the symptoms continued.”
His opponent, Ortega spoke about the case on his Twitter: “It is what it is. We’ll do this s*** later.”

The Ultimate featherweight fighter, Megan anderson expressed concern about the champion's concussion. “This is scary stuff. What we put ourselves through training/fights can have so many unknown long term consequences. I wish Max a speedy recovery!”, he spoke.

The former middleweight champion, Michael Bisping expressed solidarity with Holloway. “As someone who knows all too well the dangers of this sport, my thoughts and wishes are with @BlessedMMA and his family. I hope this passes quickly and we can see him doing what he does best soon,” she said.
