Bellator starts welterweight GP in September

The eight athletes who will take part in the tournament have not yet been announced, but the first fight will be on September 29th in San Jose

Having proven the success of the Heavyweight GP, Bellator also wants to expand the tournament to the welterweight category. The organization confirmed the news on Tuesday (26) at a press conference. Starting from the event on September 29th in San Jose, eight fighters faced each other for the category title.

Former welterweight champions, Douglas lima e Andrei Koreshkov and the fighters Michael Page and Paul Daley are counted on to be part of the tournament. Bellator has not yet released the official list of athletes who will take part in the dispute.

The event card in the United States will also feature a superfight between Gegard Mousasi e Rory McDonald and the fourth clash between Wanderlei Silva e Quinton Rampage Jackson.
