"It is difficult. I don't want to lose out or anything like that, but at the same time, it's what I need. It's what I need because I feel like I have other things in life that are calling me too. I thought about how difficult it would be for me to actually say these words or make a statement about it, but I needed to. It's part of caring and accepting myself. I can no longer be mistaken about this. I feel a little disconcerted by the way my career ended, but I think it had to be that way. I don't think I would stop if it didn't end this way. Having to stop like that was difficult, but there are no mistakes in life and it was necessary. I believe in the process of life and I trust in the universe. I know that God decides what is best for me,” Evans told ESPN.

Rashad Evans' career

Evans came to the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter 2 (TUF 2), the UFC's reality show. In the heavyweight division (up to 125 kg.), the North American won the program in 2005 and signed with the organization. In a series of nine undefeated fights in the octagon, 'Suga' defeated Forrest griffin and won the light heavyweight title in 2008. The fighter's reign, however, was short-lived. At UFC 98, he was knocked out by the Brazilian Lyoto Machida, suffered his first defeat and lost the title. Rashad continued a series of four victories after his first loss and once again had a chance to fight for the belt, but was overtaken by Jon Jones in the unanimous decision of the judges at UFC 145, in April 2012. The fighter's bad phase began in 2015. After the setback against Ryan bader, at UFC 192, he also accumulated losses to Glover Teixeira, Daniel Kelly, Sam alvey e Anthony Smith.
