Last week, a title clash between lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov and former champion Conor McGregor could happen at UFC 229, in Las Vegas on October 06th. In an interview with the website “MMANytt”, the Irishman’s trainer, Owen Roddy, said he could not confirm the fight, but stated that the ‘loudmouth’ is training hard, and that the fight with the Russian is “evolving”.
“I can't confirm anything. He's training hard, he's always training. He's motivated and he wants to fight. It’s just that he needs to sort some things out, so he can sit down and negotiate a good deal for his next fight.”

Roddy said that he talks to McGregor about his possible fights and that at the moment Khabib seems like the right guy to face him.
The coach said that negotiations are taking place for the fight to take place. “I'm sure it's just until negotiations, but yes, I think it's building. This started the same way with the Mayweather fight; there was conversation, there was a little back and forth, and a little drama. Once the crowd and fans are behind it, they end up making the fight. It’s shaping up very well,” concluded Roddy.
Conor McGregor has not competed since August 2017, when he lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr in the boxing ring. His most recent MMA fight came in November 2016, when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC lightweight belt.
Khabib Nurmagomedov, meanwhile last fought in April when he defeated To the fifth.
