Rafael Anjos was close to making history last Saturday (09) by becoming the first Brazilian champion in two UFC categories. But the setback Colby covington, in the unanimous decision of the judges, frustrated the fighter's desire. Despite the postponed objective, RDA is already aiming to restart the journey towards the welterweight title (under 77,1kg).

“I would like to thank you for your support and affection. Since Saturday I have received many messages and it is priceless. I've always been a very competitive guy, and I confess that I never knew how to deal with defeat properly. I gave my best there, I had the support of the best coaches I could have. The result didn't come in our favor, but nothing will make me give up. I'm a guy driven by challenges and this is just another one. In 2014, after the fight with Khabib, I worked twice as hard, stayed focused and, with God's grace, I became champion 11 months after that defeat. This time it won't be any different.
I reached this interim title fight after just three fights at welterweight. I've barely started my journey at this weight, I know my potential and I know where I'm going to get. I'm not going to give up on my goals because of the first setback in this division. Now it’s time to review what didn’t work, work and restart the path towards the top. God knows everything. Evil can overcome good at some moments in life, but in the end, good always wins. You may lose the battle, but never the war. Thank God I have the best friends and the best family in the world. I will be back soon stronger than ever. You bet"!
