Dana White says Georges St. Pierre is already retired

While the UFC president makes this allegation that the Canadian 'doesn't want to fight', GSP's manager denies retirement

Georges St-Pierre, former UFC champion, has not fought since last year when he faced Michael Bisping and won the middleweight belt. Not to mention his retirement from Ultimate for four years, from 2013 to 2017. In an interview on the “TSN” podcast on Thursday (07), the organization's president, Dana White said that GSP is “retired” from MMA competition, as he has no intention of fighting soon.

“We've been talking about a fight with 'GSP', but 'GSP' is retired. As far as I'm concerned. He’s not interested in fighting anyone,” Dana explained.

History seems to be repeating itself, during St. Pierre's four-year 'hiatus', the president of Ultimate declared that he would like to see the Canadian back in the octagon. Even so, he assured that the fighter had no interest in fighting at a high level.

“Rush” returned to the UFC in the middleweight category against Michael Bisping in November 2017 and won the title. Just 33 days after his victory, GSP claimed health problems and relinquished the belt to Robert whittaker.

After White's statement, St-Pierre's manager Rodolphe Beaulieu denied his client's retirement in a message to the “MMAjunkie” website.

"He [Georges St Pierre] was on Ariel (Helwani)'s show a few weeks ago and on Joe Rogan's podcast a few weeks ago and during a three hour interview he never said he was retired. In both interviews he said exactly why he had no interest in Diaz fight. He explained his entire reasoning,” Beaulieu said.
