The Ultimate Light Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Cormier challenges fellow heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 on July 7 in Las Vegas. With the victory, Cormier will accumulate the UFC light heavyweight, Strikeforce Grand Prix heavyweight and Ultimate heavyweight belts.

For the American Kickboxing Academy, the fight between DC and Miocic is worth much more than another belt in the organization. The winner of the fight could easily be considered the best fighter pound-for-pound.

In an interview with the FloCombat website, Cormier spoke about the opinion of the American Kickboxing Academy. “This is how it should be. Stipe and I are 3rd and 4th or 4th and 5th in the pound-for-pound rankings right now. How much better does it get than that? This is as good as it gets in terms of sport, in terms of athletic competition, in terms of the importance of the sport linked to a fight,” said DC.

The light heavyweight champion stated that the fight against Miocic is the challenge he was waiting for at this point in his career. “It gives me exactly what I’m craving. I do this, everything I have ever wanted, desired and hoped for is not only a reality, but it is my truth now. I can honestly say that I am one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time and I have no reservations about that and no one can question it,” he acknowledged.
