The World MMA Awards, an award popularly known among fans as the “Oscar of MMA”, announced the nominees for this year's awards. Brazil has five competitors in the 16 categories in dispute: Rafael dos Anjos, Chris Cyborg, Edson Barboza, Diego Brandao and Jhenny Andrade are in the running for the award.

Rafael dos Anjos is competing for the most important award of the night: Best Fighter of 2018. The Brazilian, who won three fights in 2017 and guaranteed the chance to fight for the UFC welterweight belt, will have four strong opponents fighting for the trophy: Ryan bader, Robert whittaker, Demetrious Johnson e Max Holloway.
Chris Cyborg competes for the 'Best Fighter of 2018' statuette. The UFC featherweight champion won the belt in 2017 and had two victories that year against Tonya Evinger and Holly holm. Her main rival in the dispute is the Ultimate strawweight champion Rose namajunas. In addition to them, julia budd, Angela Lee and Ilima-Lei Macfarlane were nominated.
Yes, Edson Barboza is in contention for the 'Knockout of the Year' award for the blow applied to Beneil Dariush at UFC Fortelza. The Brazilian will have as opponents: Matt Brown, Paul Daley, Francis Ngannou and Aaron Pico. In the race for the Submission of the Year award, the former UFC Diego Brandao competes with applied armbar Murad Machaev, at Fight Nights Global 38.
Finally, Brazilian Jhenny Andrade tries to compete for two-time champion in the 'Best Ring Girl of 2018' award.
