The Brazilian Charles of the Bronx's took a break from the fight marathon in 2011 to maintain focus on changing the category. The athlete from São Paulo leaves the lightweight division and joins the UFC featherweight team. However, while he still doesn't return to the octagon, Charles, and his trainer Ericson Cardoso, worked on a social project on the coast of the state of São Paulo.
The Tupiniquim athlete visited schools, taught jiu-jitsu classes and met “O Lutador do Futuro”, a social project maintained in Ubatuba.
“I have already traveled to several places and I have never felt such great affection and emotion as what I am feeling now surrounded by these children”, commented an emotional Charles.
At the headquarters of the social project, which is experiencing financial difficulties, Charles and Ericson took the opportunity to meet each child and tell them a little about the featherweight's success story, which left the children amazed.
“It was a wonderful weekend in Ubatuba, the city is beautiful and the nature is amazing. There is no money in the world to pay for having contact with children from the social project, I hope that the public authorities look at all children and support more actions like this and do not use these moments as a political campaign and that the city hall complies with the agreements pre-established. This attitude and others that happened during our visit to the city show how little we care about the future of sport, which is children, which is why I want to return to follow these children closely and make a difference”, he said.
