Cyborg's rival complains about machismo in Russia: 'They think women have to stay at home'

Yana Kunitskaya, who challenges Cyborg at UFC 222, revealed that she has no support in her country due to local machismo

It's Kunitskaya should not have a large number of Russian fans in their fight against Chris Cyborg, next Saturday (03). The fighter revealed that athletes in her country have suffered from machismo. The Russian, Invicta FC bantamweight champion (61,2 kg), did not hide the difficulties of being an MMA fighter in her homeland.

“We have many friends and many haters from Russia. But for women's MMA, we don't have many women fighting, I think we only have five fighters in all of Russia. We have a traditional culture and people think that women have to stay at home, not fight. Most MMA fans are men, women don't watch it, so it doesn't matter if I fight well or badly, they don't think MMA is for women. If I fight well, they hate it, so I don’t care about these people”, Kunitskaya reported to the Combate website
