The city of Recife is expected to be another Brazilian capital to host a UFC event in 2012. After returning to Brazil after 13 years, Ultimate promoted, in September, in Rio de Janeiro, an event that greatly pleased the show's organizers and the return is already negotiated by the promoters.
On Monday night (17), the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, met with Lorenzo Fertitta, majority shareholder of the UFC, to define some points of the event. After the meeting, the governor's office announced that the city of Recife will receive a technical visit to choose the location for the event, and that the government is now available to meet the UFC's requests.

“A UFC technical team will come to Pernambuco soon to map out possible locations for holding the event. A working group will be set up by the State Government to meet the organization’s requirements,” the statement said.
In turn, Eduardo Campos, governor of the State, wants to use the UFC as a form of education for children in Pernambuco.
“Many of our children today see these athletes as true idols, as happens in football. Our idea is to show that a champion does not use drugs, especially crack”, said the governor after the meeting with Lorenzo.
Since the UFC's return to Brazil, organization leaders have met with government officials in São Paulo, Manaus, and Vitória. However, no official announcement was made by the organization, only by local politicians.
