Anderson Silva broke the silence! More than three months after being caught in an anti-doping test before UFC Shanghai in November, Spider tried to justify the change in his test. He denied that he had used any type of substance to improve performance and claimed that the change in the test may have been caused by the use of a contaminated supplement.

Anderson was approached in the middle of the street by a reporter from the famous American gossip website TMZ. Spider did not refuse to answer the questions and for the first time since the doping announcement he tried to justify the reason for changing the test.

PUBLICITY:

“Maybe the supplements I used were contaminated. I don't know, I'm just waiting. Because obviously if I used steroids I would be stupid. I’m very old, I’m not at the beginning of my career, I’m at the end,” he said.

"It is difficult. The rules are not easy, they change all the time”, he added, saying that many athletes dope without even knowing it.

Anderson Silva, who could face a waiting period of up to four years and would only be allowed to fight at 46, is still not thinking about retirement. He hopes to be able to prove his innocence to the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and fulfill his dream of facing veteran Roy Jones Jr, in a boxing superfight.

“I’m just waiting for USADA and my lawyers. I hope I can come back soon to fight Roy Jones Jr. It's my dream. I hope it happens, he added.

Anderson's doping

Anderson Silva was caught in an anti-doping test conducted by USADA while preparing to face Kelvin Gastelum in the main fight of UFC China. The Brazilian was preventively suspended. Having already failed in a previous exam, Spider could face a sentence of up to four years, if it is proven that he acted in bad faith. As a result, Anderson would only fight again at the age of 46.

Although there is still no official confirmation, according to a note published on the Combate channel website, Anderson was caught with testosterone and diuretics in his test.
