Initially, Ultimate's plan would be to schedule the champions' superfight Amanda nunes x Chris Cyborg to Rio de Janeiro. But as Cyborg conditioned the dispute to a big show in Las Vegas, and agreed to save the UFC 222 card, next month, the organization went to 'plan B' in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. As Pennington is on a four-fight winning streak, she was chosen to challenge the Lioness.

With so many attractions, the show should be the biggest sale of pay-per-view packages of the year and be profitable for the athletes, as the Paraná native had demanded.
