UFC Belém: Lyoto makes weight and calls on fans: 'My strategy is your support'

Everything ready for UFC Fight NIght Belém, an event that takes place next Saturday, in the capital of Pará. In the athletes' last appointment before the show, two Brazilians had problems at the show's official weigh-in. Michel Trator and Pedro Munoz were unable to reach the limit of their categories. Munoz was 1,8 kg above the bantamweight division limit (61,2 kg.) and his opponent John Dodson did not accept financial compensation and the dispute was cancelled. Trator transferred 20% of his salary to Desmond Green and the dispute was made official.

Protagonist of the main fight of the night, Lyoto Machida was received with a party for the fans. The black belt, who has lived in Belem since childhood, used the pound of tolerance* to weigh 84,4 kg and confirm the dispute against Erik Anders.

At the time of the traditional face-off, Machida performed a respectful face-off and asked the fans for help in the dispute:

“My strategy is your support! I want this support not only for myself, but for all Brazilians who will be fighting”, he said.

Among the other fights at the event, highlights include Valentina Shevchenko. The Kyrgyzstani woman living in Peru was the only foreigner received by applause. She stares Priscila Pedrita in the second most important fight of the night.

Home athlete Michel Trator had one of the warmest receptions at the weigh-in. The fighter, who is also a corporal in Rotam, the elite division of the Pará police – saluted near the scales. The public went crazy.
