“After my last fight against Tito Ortiz (at UFC 133 in August), I dislocated my right thumb, which needed to be put back in place with some pins. Just yesterday my doctor removed these pins. At that point, I knew it would require another three weeks of rehab before I could do any exercise or training again,” Evans said. The fighter, who does not hide his desire to face Jones, his former teammate, highlighted that he understands that the UFC chose Lyoto in his place.

“Dana White and I spoke earlier and I completely understand his decision to pit Machida against Jones for the title at UFC 140. Given the rehabilitation time I need, I wouldn't be 100% ready until December 10th. I would have done the same thing that Dana did in his position”, concludes Evans, who lost his belt to Lyoto in the past.
