It took 10 fights and 28 days for Brazil to finally celebrate its first victory in Ultimate in 2018! And the triumph came in style with Ronaldo Jacare. The Brazilian scored a spectacular knockout against Derek Brunson with a kick to the head in the first round and put himself back in the fight for the middleweight belt. The fight was the main attraction of UFC Fight Night Charlotte, an event held on Saturday night (27), in the United States.
With the triumph, Jacaré, third placed in the middleweight division rankings, rediscovers the path to victory and recovers from the setback against Robert whittaker, in April 2017, in addition to a series of injuries in training following the loss last year. Now, the black belt awaits the winner of the dispute between Luke Rockhold e Yoel romero, for the interim belt, in search of the dream chance for the category title.

Jacaré's victory
The tension marked the beginning of the dispute between Jacaré and Brunson. Fighters wait for the best moment to attack, knowing the risk of a counterattack from their opponent. In one of Brunson's attacks, Jacaré went for his rival's legs and tried to take him down, but the American hit the ground and got up quickly.
Jacaré's victory began three minutes into the fight, when he fired a beautiful right high kick that hit Brunson square in the head. The North American fell and tried to get up with the help of the fence, while the Brazilian walked towards him slowly to land a few more punches and win by knockout.
