Bellator kicked off the organization's heavyweight GP this Saturday, in Lousiana, United States. Despite not having Brazilians in the tournament, the 52nd edition of the show featured two Brazilian athletes in action, who left the fights with one victory and one defeat.
After debuting in Bellator with a loss to Marlon Sandro, Junior PQD managed his rehabilitation in style. Facing Brian Goldsby, the Brazilian needed just over three minutes to take the duel to the ground, land a tight triangle arm and end the fight. In turn, Cosmo Alexandre was not as lucky. Making his MMA debut, the Muay Thai specialist was unable to unleash his game against Josh Quayhagen and ended up being defeated by the judges' unanimous decision.
In the heavyweight GP, Ron Sparks got past Mark Holata and faced Eric Prindle, who eliminated Abe Wagner. On the other side of the bracket, the semifinal will be formed by Blagoi Ivanov, who submitted Zak Jensen and Mike Hayes, who defeated Neil Grove.
