Former UFC lightweight champion, Rafael Dos Anjos should soon have the opportunity to become owner of the welterweight belt, currently held by Tyron woodley. The guarantee is Dana White, president of the organization. The director assured that, as soon as the North American champion recovers from shoulder surgery, he will be challenged by the Brazilian.

“Once Woodley is healthy, obviously the fight against Dos Anjos is the fight to make, especially after the way he fought against Robbie Lawler. We’re just waiting for Woodley to recover”, commented White, to the North American channel “Fox Sports”.

Before Dana White confirmed RDA against Woodley, the North American champion himself still showed some resistance in accepting the Brazilian as his next opponent, arguing that he would like to face a big name, who would do “something for his legacy”.

“I don’t really see a fight that makes sense for me right now. There is no clear number one in the division. Some talk about Dos Anjos. I'm not even going to pay attention to (Colby) Covington's name. I think the deck needs to be shuffled a little more and maybe a fight that is more substantial for my career and my legacy will come along,” Woodley told the North American website “MMA Junkie”.
