Oezdemir was involved in a disturbance in a bar in Flória in August last year. A bar patron accused the fighter of assault and sued him. Kevin Cohen alleges that the Swiss man attacked his friend after an argument and punched him. Cohen says he was unconscious for about 14 minutes as a result of the blow. Volkan denies what happened and says that all his actions were justified.

The Swiss man was detained for a few hours, but was soon released after paying bail of US$10. His lawyer, in contact with the North American website MMA Fighting, assured that the Court did not impose any travel restrictions on his client, who will be able to travel to Boston to perform at UFC 220, on January 20th.
