A few days after UFC 219, a pre-fight video of the featherweight champion Chris Cyborg went viral. But the images did not show part of his training but rather a slap that his trainer, Jason Parillo, gave him in the face. The scene was repeated before the duel with Holly holm and caught the attention of fans, who were divided between approval and disapproval of the practice.
On social media, Cyborg admitted that he always asks for a slap to Parillo's face and that the blow helps to check 'if the spirit hasn't run away'.
“Always be ready! Don't mess with Cyborg Nation. Before the war! It's been like this for a while, but just this once they filmed it! Just to check that the spirit didn't run away! (laughs)”, explained the Brazilian in the caption of the slap video.
